The following resolution was offered by Councilman Raifsnider, who moved its
adoption, motion seconded by Councilman Berka and carried:
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Radio Station WIOD, located at Miami Beach, Florida, provides the
people of the southern portion of the State with the best and cleaxest daylight
reception, and
WHEREAS, its affiliation with National Broadcasting Company provides us with
Information and entertaimment of high order and benefit,,and
WHEREAS, its custom of giving adequate storm warnings and informationduTing
the.equinoctioal periods is of untold value to our people, and
WHEREAS, we axe advised that certian changes contemplated by the Federal Radio
ComTission with refereboe to this station will decrease its time,power and fre-
quency, now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of -Okeechobee, Florida,.that
the Federal Rkio Commission be and the same is hereby most respectfully and urguen-
tly petitioned not to make any change in the status of Station WIOD aforesaid, but
V1 that it be permitted to continue with full time 1000 Watt power and present frequency.
