1929-04 Endorsing Fla. Flood ControlThe following resolfation was proposed by Councilman Aaifsnider, who moved its
adoption, motion seconded by Councilman J. H. Walker, Sr. and carried:
RESOLUTION OF ENDORSEMENT
WHEREAS, The storms and hurricanes of the past few yearshave intensified the need for
proper and adequate flood control for the Okeechobee Section, which need
recommended and corroborated by the Engineers of the United Sates Army, and
WHEREASt The loss of over two thousand lives in the hurricane disasters in the
Lake Okeechobee Section demad flood c ontrol if lives and property are to
be preserved and people to live and reai their families in happiness and
safety, and
WHEREAS, Th6 Florida Flood Control Association, a non-profit making, non-partisan
organization is engaged in gathering and compiling data to present at the
the next session of Congress to substantiate the consensus of opinion of
the people of this area that the Federal Goverinment should participate in
the necessaxy works in a substantial financial way,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida,
does endorse the efforts of the Florida Flood Control Association.
