J. R. Leonard, County Health Officer, appeared before the Council stating that. raw sewage was
dumping in Taylor Creek from Nix Hostel requesting that this situatiom be corrected. After discussion
CounCilman Gardner moved to corre, ct sewer problem seconded by Councilman Walker and Unanimously carried.
Councilman Gardner moved to grant request for sewer line extension requiring approximately
60 feet of sewer pipe to Block D, Central Park (Duplex of Marguerite B. Lynn located on 5th Street)
seconded by CounCilman Watford and uaanimously carried.

between Lots 2 a~d 3 of Osceola Park, according to the Plat thereof recorded in Plat Book 2, Page
99, Public Records of O~keechobee County. Said alley being 15 feet wide by 126 feet long. The Council
authorized the C~erk t~ publish notice..
A letter was. reoeive~ and read frei the Episcopal Churchwomen requesting that a Humans Society be
orgar~ized im 0kelChobee. Matter tabled until further date.
Zoning applicatior~ were received fre~ the following: I~r~y Briney requesting that lots 11 and
12, Block 19, Northwest Addition be rezoned from lesidential (R-2) to Cow~ercial and M. F. Kinsaul re-
quested that lot~ 1, 2 and 3, Block 7, South Okeechobee be rezoned from Residential (R-l) to Commercial.
The Council authorized the Clerk to publish notice of public hearing.
Attorney Hendry reported on the hearing from State Road Department regarding a traffic light on
Parrett Avenue a~d North Third Street. Councilman Gardner moved to apply £or a traffic survey at above
location seconde~ by Councilmae Hunt and unanimously carriede
A delegation from the Garden Club was present regarding the landscaping of City Hall grounds.
The Council info,mod the group of the anticipated improvements to the City Hall stating they felt it
better to get the building improvements co. pie.ted and the sod down them landscape the grounds. The
Council agreed te advise them when they were r~ady for them to proceed with the landscaping.
Councilman Hunt discussed the disposal of city hall windows that are to be removed from building.
Councilman Gardner moved that Councilman HuntJ and Building Inspector White be authorized to dispose ef
said windows secemded by Oouncilmaa Walker and carried.

Said bids will be opened in the Council Chamber
at the City Hall in Okeechobee, Florida, at % P.M.

CounciLman Gardner discussed an office for the police department and moved to install door in
vacant roo~ at ~ty Hall for said office, seconded by Councilman Watford. The following vote was taken:
Yea: Councilmen Gardner and Watford. Nay: Councilmen Walker and Hunt. President Mc Crocklin vote~ nay.
Councilman Gardner discussed the purchase of a base radio station. The Council agreed to request
J. B. Watford to present and explain the proposal on the purchase of said equipment.

Councilman Gardne~ moved to amend Ordinanee No. 188 and increase skating rink license fee from
$125.00 per annu~ to $500.~ per annum seconded by Councilman Watford. The following vote was taken:
~Yea: Councilman Gardmer, Hu~% and Watford. Councilman Walker voted, No. ~-.
Clyde Kauffman, ~vil Defense Director, discussed with the Council the benefits that the City
could get if they would en~r the Civil Defense Program. After discussion Councilman Gardner move~ that
Attorney Rendry be instructed to prepare Resolutiom, so that the City can participate iR the Civil Defense
program, seconded by Counc~ Watferd and unanimously carried.
Mayer Mack discu~d the renewal ef Volunteer Fire Department Insuarance policy. Councilman
Hunt ~ve~, seconded by Co~ilman Walker and una~usly carrie~ to renew policy.
The subject of de~ueat water and sewer bills was discussed by the Council. Afterwhic½ the
Clerk was instructed to no~ Presley Laundromat (C. A. Presley)' that the deliquent water and sewer bill
in the a~ount of $~41.06 a~ Loyd Tomlinson deliquent sewer bill in the amount oF $111.00 must be paid
withi~ ta~(lO)days from no~ficatien er legal action would be taken.
