Whereas'. it appearing to the City Cdtincil that the bond heretofore
ro uired to be given by bidders.for street Paving, and layingi"'
WMr -mains-, were very excessive, and further anpearing that the
oontractors would be i�nable to give the said bond as so requIred,
and that it would be necessary to reduce the same, Therefore be it
resolved that the Oity-Counbil hereby reduces the said bonds, for
paving contract, to 420,000 and for laying Water Mains, to 8500.00.
Be it further resolved, that the amount to be retained out of the
work as completed, shall be 10 percent of the amount due the
contractor from e6�ch payment as made.
It being expressly,understood, that the contracts are to be chang-ed
to read as above, and in no way to alter or change any other of the
rovisions of said contracts.

The above resolution was unanimously adopted upon the following
vote, after being read a first Atd second time, and by unanimous
concent read a third time, and passed in ooen session. The vote
was as follows:

Resolution:
Moved by 0. R. Brooks and seconded by 111. P. Underhill, that
T;vJF,REAS the City Council has letters from the Michigan Pipe
Company and the R. :). �Iood company and have a tlegram from the Agent
o-1' the Aetna Casulty Co., all of whichindicate that Vincent H.
Green and J. E. Nash are trying to secure satifactory bonds a d get
the rp.aterial under way for work, all,'extension of ton (10). days from
this date be granted them in which to execute and deliver to this
Council a satisfactory bond for the performance of their contract,
and the Clerk is ordered to notify Vilicent 11. Greenland J- E. Nash
that if a satisfactory bond'is not executed and delivered to the
Council withf'n- the time S-0ecified the Council will, at its option,
declare that checks in t, -,e sum of �500 each, paid by the contractors
at the time their'bids were made, are forfeited and proceed to rea-
