sewer and water extension program. ~r. RidelX, ~!ght of Way Engineer with the State
Road Department was also present in reference to obtaining a definte date as to when
finances would be appropriated to move the water main on Parrott Avenue for the road
reconstruction. He was informed by }~'~r. Wagner that the matter was being handled as
fast as possible but It would be i~ossible to give a definite date as to when it
would be completed.
Gino Boromei discussed ~th the Co~cil the tr~flc hazzard at intersection
of Parrott Avenue ~d Vth Street, ~ision being obstructed by parked trucks, request-
ing that the Council consider installing a tr~fic light at ~is location. No action
was t~en.
Jack Wilcox, local contractor, discussed with the Co~cil a water line ex-
tension to his property ~own as "Wilcox Shores". ~ Council advised Wilcox to
obtain more definite info~ation on requirements of the Veterans Adminstration before
they would b~ in any position to t~e action.
A letter from A~on ~c Clellan was read reg~ding street repair. Matter
referred to Supt. Willia~s.
A statement In the amount of ~1!6.50 from Mabry, Reaves, Carlton, Fields
and Ward, Attorneys at Law, regarding R. E. Hamrick ~d Annie B. H~rick VS City of
0keechobee was presented. The Co~cil agreed that the bill be oaid upon receipt of
a Satisfaction of Jud~ent.

A letter was read from Robert L. Wagner, representative of Leedy, Wheeler
and Alleman, stating that a suggested form of Ordinance for the $150,000.00 Water
and Sewer Revenue Certificates was being inclosed for the Council's study. Said
Ordinance was received by the Attorney and Nayor in P. ~.~.
P~tition~wtth approximately 300 signatures of citizens wrging the City
Council to find means for relaying water line for the reconstruction of State Road
441, were received by the Council and considered. A number of citizens interested
in the reconstruction of State Road 441 were present. The Council stated that the
Ordinance would be studied and a meeting would be held as soon as possible to
approve or reject same.
Fred T. Wilson appeared before the Council in regards to the zoning
North of Railroad, requesting that Block 3 be zoned as a Commercial area. The
Council agreed to study matter. ~r. Wilson also issued a complaint as to th~
outdoor toilets in the city.
Jack Wilcox, local contractor, was present stating the water line ex-
tension to his property known as "Wilcox Shores" had been estimated at a cost of
$?,000.00. I~.~r, Wilcox stated that if it proved impossible for the City to
finance such extension then he would make necessary extension if the City would
sell him water at said location. After discussion Councilman Chandler moved to
instruct the Clerk to write a letter to Wilcox stating that the City agrees to
sell him water at the above location at prevailing rate, seconded by Councilman
Pearce and carried.
Oliver Godwin appeared requesting that the Council grant him permission
to use the Council room one Saturday night in Narch to show a Bible picture film.
Councilman Gardner moved to grant request, seconded by Councilman Pearce and
carried~
President Watford stated a request from the Chamber of Commerce to have
special Police during the boat-a-cade or Big Lake cruise and requested permission
to repair boat ramp. Mayor Dunham agreed to have auxiliary police on duty at that
time. The Chamber of Commerce was instructed to contact R. E. Ham_rick regarding
boat ramp.

Mayor Dunham recommended that the Council change the Election time to
coincide with the State law 7:00 A. ~,~. to 7:00 P. M. Councilman Pearce moved to
accept the recommendation and instructed Attorney Durrance to prepare necessary
Ordinance, seconded by Councilman Gardner and carried.

Councilman Walker presented/the Council for study a drainage situation
south of sc~ool house on First Street. The Council agreed that this would have
to have attention in the near future.
President Watford discussed the street light situation on 0sceola Street
stating that ~Villiams Electric had been contacted and that ~.Ir. Williar~s was
familiar with the situation. ~?ne Council agreed to instruct Williams Electric to
make necessary repairs with the city furnishing labor.
~'layQr Dunham discussed with the Council and Fire Chief Godwin the pur-
chase of fire hose. Afterwhich the Council referred the matter to Chief Godwin
to submit specifications and to advertize for bids on the needed fire hose. The

The need of dishe~ for the jail was discussed and upon motion by
Councilman Walker, seconded by Councilman Gardner and carried, Chief Godwin
was authorized to purchase necessary items.
A traffic light for the intersection of 7th Street and Parrott Avenue
was discussed. The Clerk was instructed to secure information as to the cost of
light and i~stallation reporting to the Council at next regular meeting.
The need of pads and bla.nkets for the Jail was discussed. Councilman
Walker moved to give Fire Chief Godwin authority to purchase 3 pads and 8 blankets
seconded by Councilman Gardner and carried.
Comacilman Gardner moved to pt~chase 4 uniforms for the Police Department
seconded by Councilman Pearce and carried.

Councilman Chandler and carried.
Councilman O~andler moved to purchase an addressograph machine

onded by Councilman Gardner and carried.
A motion was made by Councilman Gardner to have check writter machine
in Clerk's office repaired, seconded by Councilman Pearce and carried.
Councilman Pearce discussed with the Council the purchase of city gas
at wholesale, owning their own pump and tank and the amount saved per gallon if
the city would purchase the gas wholesale. After the discussion Councilman
seconded by Councilman Chandler and carried,

The Clerk was instructed to render statement monthly to the American
Legion for water and garbage service.
Nathan Zelmenovitz, Representative, spoke briefly urging that every
effort be extended to meet the requirements for the street improvement and
requested the Council members, Attorney and Mayor to meet with the County
Co~m~issioners, Tuesday, February 12, seeking the cooperation of the County in
the relaying of water line on State Road 441.
Mayor Dunham stated that he had requested ~r. Mathers, State Road
Deoartment Maintenance Engineer, to come to 0keechobee on Feb ~ to look over
the city's need of speed zone signs and offer recommendations. Said recommend-
ations to be presented to the Council for their approval.
Upon motion the Council adjourned.

deciding a swimming pool location and the transfer of sites.
