Dear Mayor Chapman:
Pursuant to s . 163 . 3184 (7) , Florida Statutes, a local govern-
ment, upon receipt of written comments from the Department, shall
have 60 days to adopt or adopt with changes its comprehensive
plan. Our records indicate that the adopted comprehensive plan
for Okeechobee was scheduled to be submitted to the Department on
or before March 6 , 1991.
Please be advised that, unless the Department receives the
adopted comprehensive plan within 30 days, the Department will
take whatever action is necessary to ensure that your comprehen-
sive plan is adopted. This may include, but not be limited to,
seeking a writ of mandamus to compel the adoption of the local
comprehensive plan.
