An excise or privilege tax in addition to all other taxes of every ki~ imposed by law is hereby levied and imposed upon the sale, receipt, purchase~ possession, comsmption, handling., distribution an~ use o~ cigarettes in the territorial limits of the city (t°wn) for cigarettes of standard dimensions are defi~ed by the general law of the state in the following amounts: 1. (a) Upon all cigarettes, as herein defined, three and one-half (3}) inches Lng or less, four (4) mills on each cigarette; {b) Upon all cigarettes, as herein defined, between three and one- half (39 and six (6) inches long, eight (8) mills on each cigarette; and ~ (c) Upon all cigarettes, as herein defined, six (6) inches long or longer, ~ixteen (16) mills on each cigarette. 2. The descrition.of cigarettes contained in sub-section one of this section ire hereby declared to be standard as to dimensions for taxing purposes as prov~ed in this ordinance and should any cigarette be received, purchased, possess~, sold, offered for sale, given away or used.of a size other than of standard, dimensions, the same shall be taxed at the rate ef one cent on each such ci~rette. 3. Where cigarettes, as described in subsection 1. (a) above, are packed in varyi~ quantities of twenty (20) cigarettes or less, the following rate shall govern: (a) Packages containing ten (10) cigarettes or less require a four- cent ane (b) Packages containing more than ten (10) but not more than twenty (20) cigarettes require an eight,cent (85) tax. h. Where cigarettes, as described in subsection 1. (b) above, are packaged in va~ quantities of twenty (20) cigarettes or less, the following rates shall govern: (a) Packages containing ten (10) cigarettes or less require an .~.. eight-ce~t (§$) tax; and (b) Packages containing more th~_n (10) but not more than twenty (20) cigaret~s require a sixteen-cent (16~) tax. 5. Where cigarettes, as described in subsection 1. (c) above, are packed in varyilg quantities of twenty (20) cigarettes or less, the following rates shall govern: (a) Packages containing ten (10) cigarettes or less require a sixteen-cent (i6¢) tax; an~ (~) Packages containing more than ten (10) but net mere than twenty (20) cigarettes ~quire a thirty-two-ce,t (32~) tax. Sectiom 2. The tax levied and imposed herein shall be collocated by the ~everage Departmett of the state in the manmer prescribed in Chapter 210, Florida Statutes. Sectiom 3. Ail funds received by the city of virtue of this ordinance shall be paid into a serrate fund to be deligna~ed~ ~cigarette tax fund" and shall be used and expended only for the purposes specified in Sectiom 210.03, Florida Statutes. Sectiom 4. Ail ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed. Sectiom 5. This ordinance shall take effect July 2, 1963. Councilman Walker reported a request for water lime extension to three houses of Leon Willis requiring approximately 421 ft. of pips. Water Supt. Kinsaul reported that he had sufficient used pipe to make the extension. Coulcilman Walker moved to grant request an~ make extension usim~ 2 inch used pipe seconded by Councilman Watf~rd and carried. Councilman Watfor~ reported that he an~ Supt. Xinsaul had made an investigation of water line extension request east on ~tate ioa~ 70 across from L & A Contractimg Company. Said extension would require approximately 300 f~et of 1~ inch pipe. After discussion the matter the Council denied request due to distance. Councilman Watfor~ discussed City ~all repairs. Councilmen Nunt and Gardner requested to get contractors and make s!r~ey of needs and price for windown installation. A ~ill ~ received from ~ig Lake Printers in the amount of $35.00 for two months rental on adding machine. Counci~ Nunt moved to pay lig Lake Printers $15.OO for'!.uae of adding machine in Clerk's office, seconded by Counci~ Watford and withdrawn.
