Councilman Parkerson moved to grant the request seconded by~ Council~.an Yeilding and unanS~ously carried. The Council again~discussed the bids and purchase, of bookkeeping machine. Matter deferred for further study· J. R. I~rrance, ~Ond Agent, discussed briefly refunding of I & S Refunding Bonds. The Council agreed to study n~tter. Counci~an Parke:'~on discussed jail cell cost.~ A to%al price for the repair was received with no details. President Gartner requested Councilman Parkerson to get specifications of desired work prepare~ Mayor Mack reque?~e~t that t?~e City employe an Attorney to represent the City in three pending cases. The Council grant, tit. quest . and authorized the employment. Mayor ~ack reporte~t that City Representatives had been requesbed to attend a civil defense ~eeting in Tallahassee. Councilman Watford moved to authorize the Mayor, Chief of Police and Councilman Parkerson to att0~d said meeting as representatives of the city the City would, bear expenses seconded by Council.an Hunt 7~d unanimously carried.. Co~mci!.man Yeilding discussed with the Council the sewer situation at the Sierra inn. The Council agreed that it would be necessary to have three water taps and three sewer taps at the First Fed~ral .Savings and Loan Building. Councilman Yeilding moved that the City build a sidewalk on Osceola Street adjacent to Lot 12, Block 165 owned by Nathan Zelmenovitz providing that Zelmenovitz agree to install individual meters for each sto~ space in building, seconded by Councilman Watford and unanimously carried. Coun¢il~aan Yeilding reported a request from the Assembly of God Church for a culvert at the parsonage entrance. The Council granted request. Council~an Yeilding moved to purchase four a~tomatic controllers for the signal lights, seconded by Councilman Parkerson and unanimously carried. A rezoning application was received from Lucille W. Pearce. The Council inst~.cted the Clerk to publish notice of Public Hearing. Councilman Watford presented the following Ordinance and moved it adoption and upon being seconde~ by Cour~c!~m~au Yeilding was put to a vote and unanimously adopted: 0 R D I N A N~C E 1~ O. 307 ~i ORDINANOE .PRESCRIBINQ THE QUALIFICATIONS OF CANDIDATES FOR OFFICES OF TH~ CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA. B,~ IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA: SE~ION 15 Ail candidates for the office of Mayor, City Clerk, and Councilman of the City of Okeechobee shall pay a qualifying fee of Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) upon qualif~.-~g as a candidate for ~ny City Election. SECTION 2; No person shall be eligible to qualify as a candidate for the office of Mayo~., City Clerk or City Councilman of the City of Okeechobee unless he or she shall: (a) Be a duly qualified elector of the City of Okeechobee, and (b) Be a duly qualified elector of the County of Okeechobee; and' (a) Be a resident of the City of Okeechobee for not less than one (1) year i~mnedia~ely preceding the date of said City Election. SECTION 3: This Ordinance shall become effective i~mediately upon final passage and apii,.-~Oval.
