87-6 FINAL BUDGET PUBLIC HEARING MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 1987
A. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M.

Mayor Chapman opened the public hearing stating the purpose of the
hearing was to consider and adopt the proposed millage rate levy and the
proposed budget for fiscal year 1987-88.
Mayor Chapman announced that the proposed millage rate levy
represents a 5.5% increase over the rolled-back rate computed pursuant to
Florida Statutes Section 200.065 (1).
Clerk Thomas read the millage resolution in its entirety as follows:
A RESOLUTION LEVYING A MILLAGE RATE AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND
CLERK TO EXECUTE THE BUDGET RESOLUTION CONTAINING SAID MILLAGE DATA
THEREIN; ALL IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 200.065 FLORIDA STATUTES.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida hereby
levies a tax of 4.45 per thousand dollar valuation on all real and
personal property within the corporate limits of said City, provided
however, that 4.15 shall not be levied upon property in the City of
Okeechobee claimed and allowed as homestead in the general laws of
the State of Florida.
Section 2: That the total 4.45 per thousand dollar valuation as
designated in Section 2, hereof, 4.15 per thousand dollar valuation
shall be used for general City purposes in carrying on and
conducting the government of said City and .30 per thousand dollar
valuation including homestead shall be used to pay interest and
principal on general obligation bonds maturing during said fiscal
year, such levy to be collected in case and such case so collected
to be kept in separate accounts for the purposes designated herein.
Section 3: The millage rate adopted hereby exceeds by 5.5% the roll-back
rate as computed in accordance with Florida Statutes Section 200.065
(1).
Section 4: That this resolution was proposed, considered and adopted
under the provisions of Florida Statutes Chapter 166 and Section
200.065.
Section 5: This Resolution shall take effect October 1, 1987.
Introduced for first reading and public hearing on the 14th day of
September, 1987.
Adopted after second reading and second public hearing on the 21st
day of September, 1987.

Councilman Rubin made a motion to adopt the millage resolution,~
seconded by Councilman Collins.
Vote - Councilmen Rubin, Collins and Mayor Chapman - yea. Motion
carried.
Clerk Thomas read the title of the budget resolution as follows:
A RESOLUTION ADOPTING AN ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE,
FLORIDA FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 1987 AND ENDING
SEPTEMBER 30, 1988; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Motion by Councilman Collins to adopt the budget resolution,
seconded by Councilman Rubin.
Vote - Councilmen Collins, Rubin and Mayor Chapman - yea. Motion
carried.
There being no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned
at 7:11 P.M.
