0957 Levying Millage ORDINANCE NO. 957 . AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A MILLAGE RATE WHICH RATE IS SET ON ALL REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY; PROVIDING THAT 7.1899 PER THOUSAND DOLLAR VALUATION SHALL NOT BE LEVIED ON HOMESTEAD PROPERTY; THAT 7.1899 PER THOUSAND DOLLAR VALUATION SHALL BE USED FOR GENERAL CITY PURPOSES; THAT SAID MILLAGE RATE IS 4.8 % MORE THAN THE ROLL-BACK RATE COMPUTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH F.S. 200.065 (1); PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained before the City Council for the City of Okeechobee, Florida; presented at a duly advertised public meeting; and passed by majority vote of the City Council; and properly executed by the Mayor or designee, as Chief Presiding Officer for the City: Section 1: The City Council of the City of Okeechobee. Florida hereby levies a tax of 7.1899 per thousand dollar valuation on all real and personal property within the corporate limits of said City, provided however, that 7.1899 shall not be levied upon property in the City of Okeechobee claimed and allowed as homestead on the general laws of the State of Florida. Section 2: That as designated in Section 1, hereof, 7.1899 per thousand dollar valuation shall be used for general City purposes in carrying on and conducting the government of said City. Section 3: The millage rate adopted is 4.8% over the roll-back rate as computed in accordance with Florida Statutes Section 200.065 (1). Section 4: That this ordinance was proposed,considered and adopted under the provisions of Florida Statues Chapter 166 and Section 200.065.
