1986-09-23 Reconvened Meeting3986 EECONVENED MEETING OF 9-16-86 TUESDAY. SEPTEMBER 23. 1986 The City Council of the City of Okeechobee reconvened the meeting originated on 9-16-86 in Council Chambers, 55 Southeast Third Avenue, Okeechobee, Florida. The meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 7~00 P.M. with the following members presents Oakland R. Chapman, Mayor Nick Collins, Councilman Oscar Thomas, Councilman Edward Douglas, Councilman Andy Rubin, Councilman Others present were: Bonnie S. Thomas, City clerk Jerry Bryant, City Attorney Sylvia Firestine, Acting Adm. Asst. Lydia J. Wilkerson, DepUty Clerk AGENDA ITEM %II a III - INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The Invocation was offered by Councilman Nick Collins, followed by the Pledge of Allegian~e. 86-29 AGENDA ITEM %IV - DISCUSSION AND ACTION BY COUNCIL TO AUTHORIZE PROCEDURE USED TO.ACCOMPLISH COMPLETION OF THE S.E. 8TH AVENUE BRIDGE Mr. Jim Broome recommended the Council approve change order %4 in the amount of $20,771. to Rock-A-Way Construction, for continuous headwalls to be placed around the wood structure. He stated he felt this would be the best solution to complete the S.E. 8th Avenue bridge project. Councilman Thomas asked if this would eliminate the sides washing --~ in. Mr. Broome answered yes. Councilman Douglas asked if the change order included sod, wing walls, paving and clean up. Mr. Broome answered yes. Councilmembers and Mr. Jack Williamson of Rock-A-Way agreed to try and have the bridge completed as soon as possible. Council discussed the number of days given in the contract extensions. Following discussion, Councilman Thomas made a motion to proceed with Change Order No. 4 for Rock-A-Way, in the amount of $20,771, with the new contract completion date being November .25th. Councilman Douglas seconded the motion. Mayor Chapman asked for a vote on the motion. Yeas Collins Thomas Douglas Rubin None Motion carried. Attorney Bryant updated the Council on the Zayti lawsuit. Council discussed the City receiving the $1,400. for attorney fees. Councilman Douglas made a motion that the City file for attorney fees. Councilman Collins seconded the motion. Mayor Chapman asked for a vote on the motion.
