Mayor Chapman began the discussion stating there were a total of 10
resumes received for the position of Administrative Assistant.
Councilman Collins stated that he had looked over the applications and
has decided on interviewing only one applicant - Milton Davis.
Councilmen Thomas and Douglas stated they agreed with Councilman
Collins. Councilman Rubin stated he decided on three applicants to
interview, Milton Davis being one of the three.
After further discussion by the Council it was the concensus of the
Council to request that Milton Davis attend the next regularly scheduled
Council meeting so the Council could have an opportunity to interview him.
Councilman Rubin asked if the business east of town had an
occupational license (George's Used Furniture). Deputy Clerk Wilkerson
informed the Council that the business had applied for a City occupational
license, but at this time, was operating without the license. The Code
Enforcement Officer is researching the City ordinances to see if the ---
license application could be turned down since the business did not have
proper off street parking and the building itself was not up to commercial
standards.
Adm. Asst. Fortner explained to the Council that there was going to be
a Planning and Zoning Board meeting at 7:30 P.M. One item on the agenda is
to reduce the required parking spaces from 15 to 7 for a specific building
that is being proposed in the City of Okeechobee. Councilmembers held a
lengthy discussion concerning the amount of required parking spaces and
agreed that the City request the Planning and Zoning Board leave the amount
of required parking spaces at 15.
There being no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned
at 3:50 P.M.
