Horace Clark requested a street light on Avenue C in East Okeechobee. No immediate action taken. The replacement of street lights on 5th ~vemae was discussed. The Clerk was instructed to contact Marvin Arrants, Malager of Florida Power and Light Company requesting him to atten~ March meeting of Council.to discuss street light projects. A request was re~orted from Florida Power and Light Company for shell on Street behind sub- station. No objection~ were heard or on file. After discussion Councilman Watford moved to rezone Lots 7 through 12 inclusive of Barbmr's Re-plat of Bleck 184, Town of Okeechobee from ~esidential (R-2) and Residential (R-3) to Commercial thereby presenting the following Ordinance and moved its adoption and upon being seconded by Councilman Parkerson was p~t to a vote and unanimously adopted: 0 I ANc 27 -(lO) 0~J~'IN~G$ ~DING ORDINANCE NO. 271, BEING AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING ZONING REGLQ ATIONS FOR THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING FOR THE ~ ~ISTRA~ION, ENFORCemEnT AND AME~ T~EHEOF PURSUANT TO THE PROVISI(NS OF CHAPTER 176, FLORIDA STATUTES, 1953. WHEREAS, application has been made by Cecil Barber, requesting this Council t~ rezone from Residential (R-2) and Residential (~-3) to Co~ercial, Lots 7 through 12 inclusive of Barber's Re-plat of Block 184 Town of Okeechobee, Florida, according to plat thereof recorded in Plat Book 2, page 85, public records of Okeechobee County, Florida, and WHEREAS, no,ice of intention to amend City Zoning Ordinance No. 271 regar~ said application was duly published according to law, and WHEREAS, on the 20th day of February, 1962, a public hearing was held in the City Council Room pursuant to said notice, and WHEREAS, it is dee~ed to the best interest of the City of Okeechobee to grant said application~ now, therefore BE IT O~DAI~ED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, F~ORIDA: SECTION 1. That Lots 7 through 12 inclusive of Barber's Re-plat of Block 18~, Town of Okeechobem, be and is hereby rezoned frc~ Residential (R-2) and Residential (R-3) to Commerc~l, effective February 20, 1962. SECTION 2. That the application requesting rezoning and proof .of publication of I notice to amend Zoning Ordinance No. 271 published in connection with the above application be attached to this Ordinance and become a part hereof. Mack MAYOR Zollie Aldridge appeared before the Council and requested permission to place a compound meter on four of his rental houses. The Council denied request and advised Aldridge that he would be required to meter each house seperately. Councilman Yeilding discussed street lights and S~at~d the need of a lig~t'0n OsC~ola St. south of Fifth Al~nue. Matter to be discussed further at March meeting. Councilman Hunt discussed the need of a new truck for Water Department. After discussion Councilman Hunt ~oved to advertize for fids on truck seconded by Councilman Yeilding and carried. The need of a radio for new fire truck was discussed. Councilm~u Watford move~ to authorize the purchase of 8aid radio seconded by Councilman Yeilding and unanimously carried. Councilman Yeilding stated the need of waste receptacles for streets and parks and m~ to authorize the purchase of six receptacles seconded by Councilman Parkerson and carried. The p~ices on material for water extension to Bet-Her Acres were presented and ~iscussed. The Council agreed to purchase said material fOr extension. Said project having been approved Feb. 6. The hasard of tree stumps on Second Street, South Okeechobee between Parrott Avenue and Kissimmee Street was discussed. President Gardner agreed to contact Elzie Grant for estimate on cost of zemoval of stumps. Councilman Parkerson agreed to contact Adminstrator of Raule=son Estate regarding shrubs on right of way second street.
