The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session at the City Hall
on the above date at 7~00 ~. M. with the following present~ Mayor Mack, President Gardner, Councilmen
Hunt, Parkerson, Watford a~d Yeilding with Attorney Hen~ry and Clerk Spivey.
Minutes of the m~eting held November 7, 1961, ~were read and approved as read.

Water Supt. Kinssul reported on his survey of water line extension in Cypress Quarters as
per request in~be res. He stated that he ha~ the required number of feet in used pipe.
The Council agreed and aut~rized Water Supt. to make extension using used pipe.
Pursuant to notiSe published in the Okeechobee News regarding a Public Neari~ on rezoning
the following describe~ p~erty: Lots 3 and 10 of Block 216, First Addition to City of Okeechobee,
fr~m Residential (R-I) to ~ercial, President Gardm~r asked if their was any one present who objected
to the above property bein$ rezoned. Mary P. Echols and Rennice Padgett adjoining property owners
veiced their objection. W~itten objections were filed from Mrs. H' C. Long, Horace C. Long, Lena
Singletary, Willie B. TomlAnson, Russell Rogers, James Rogers, Jr., B. F. Lamb, Eugenia Bowden, Alvin
Sweatt and Dorotky Boyles. Twenty per-cent of property owners objected. After discussion the Council
went into Executive Session. The Council came into Open Session. No action taken on the rezoning.
Ernest Evans appeared before the Council stating that he and Oscar Crabill wanted to give
the bridge between Wilcox Shores and Okeechobee Estates to. the City provided they maintain same. The
Council agreed t~ have some reliable person inspect structure:,as to condition.
CounCilman Yeilding reported a request from Gilbert Culbreth to have the trees removed from
street right of Way on Hicpochee Street. A discussion followed but no action taken.
Councilmam Yeilding moved to purchase 1 - 20' - 24" plain culvert and 1 - 20' - 18" with 2 -
18~ bands, secomAed by Councilman Hunt and carried.
The erection of Christmas Lights in park discussed. The Council authorized Street Supt.
Williams to purchase necessary bulbs and erect same.
Sand for filters at Sewer Plant discussed. No.action taken.
Pursuaat to notice in Okeechobee News regarding the purchase of a truck, bids were opened from
the following:
Okeech$bee Motor Company- 6 cylinder $2,518.77 - 8 cylinder $2,622.00
Gilber% Chevrolet Co. - 6 cylinder $2,699.33
After discussion Counc//man Yeilding moved to accept the bid from Okeechobee Motor Company for a 6
cylinder truck amd installation of city owned dump body in the amount of $2,518.77 seconded by Councilman
Parkerson and carried.
A trailer parked partially on street right of way on Eleventh Street between Hiwassee ~
Micanopee Street was discussed. Matter referred to Councilman Parkerson.
A hous~ located partially on alley in Block 157 was discussed. Mayor Mack to investigate
status of proper%y.
Street;markers discussed by Councilman Warlord. The Council agreed that Councilmam Watford
and Yeilding pregare the names of streets and to purchase signs in the ~ount of $500.00.
Presid%nt Gardner stated that he had been requested to ask the Council if the City-would repeal
Ordinance and ~ beer sales on Sunday in the City. No action taken.
An application from Frank Ozga requesting that Lots 1 to 6 inc., Block 151, Original Town of
Okeechobee be re~oned from Residential (R-I) to Commercial. The Council authorized the Clerk to publish
advertisement fo~ public hearing..

. NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Okeechobee,
Florida, a municipal corporation, wi ll consider rezoning from RESIDENTIAL (R-i) to
COMMER~TAL and to amend accordingly the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance ~271 adopted
Novem~ 21, 1955, th~ following described real property~ situate, lying and being
within.the corporate limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, to-wit-.
. Lots 1, 2, 3, h, 5 and 6 of Block 151 Original Town of Okeechobee
and that a public hearing in relation thereto will be held at 7:00 P. M. on the 2nd
day of ,/anuary, 1962, in the city council room, City Hall, Okeechobee, Florida, at
which time all parties in interest and citizens shall have an opportunity to be hear~.

Plan Agreement, covering Taylor Creek Water Shed Project, revision of drop epillway~No.

The garbage situation was discussed. The Council instructed the Clerk to notify Frank Reeves
of a meeting of the Council to be held Tuesday December 12th requesting his presence for a discussion
on the above subject.
Councilman,Hunt ~Oved to authorize payment in the amount of $~5.OO to W. L. Hendry for
prosemml~Lon of two cases i~ City Court, seconded by Councilman Parkerson and carried.
Upon motion the Council adjourned.
