Councilmaxt Yeilding presented the foll~i~ ~ut~ and moved its adoption and upon being seconded by Councilman was put to a vote a~d unanimeusly adopted.. ~, a delega~on of c£ti~en~ of Okeechobee Ceunty~ Florida, have appeared before the City Council of t~ city of Okeechobee and informed said Council of their efforts te organize a Federal Savings & Loan Association in Okeechobee County, and that an application for Charter has been ~ade by them to the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, Washington, D. C.; and WHEREAS, the population and growth of the city of Okeechobee has approximately doubled during the lO-ye~ period from 1950 te 1960 and it is anti6ipated that this rate of growth wil~, centinue dur~ the next 1~ years and therefore a Federal Savings & Lean Association is needed in Okee~hobee County to aid in the orderly and progressive growth of the community and to serve its ~ltize~j and WHEREAS, this Co~l r~s the need of a Federal Savings & Lean Association within Okeech~bee County ~ further recognizes that the nearest Federal Savings & Loan Association 753 serving: the Okeechobee Area is approximately 40 miles awayj NOW, ~RE, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Okeechobee that the ~'~' City Coancil hereby endorses said Application for C~arter of a Federal Savings & Loa~ ~ Association in Okeechobee County and hereby respectfully requests the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, Washington, D.
