AN ORDINANCE CORRECTING SCRIVENER'S ERROR CONTAINED IN
THE LEGAL DESCRIPTION OF PARCEL VI OF ORDINANCE NUMBER
616.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE,
FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: That Ordinance Number 616 contains a typographical
error in the legal description of Parcel VI, wherein "of NE 1/4"
was inadvertently omitted.
SECTION II: The legal description for Parcel VI is hereby amended
to read:
THAT PART OF THE SW 1/4 OF NW 1/4 OF NE 1/4 LYING NORTH AND EAST
OF TAYLOR CREEK; THAT PART OF THE S 1/2 OF NE 1/4 LYING NORTH AND
EAST OF TAYLOR CREEK; THAT PART OF THE N 1/2 OF SE 1/4 LYING NORTH
OF TAYLOR CREEK, ALL BEING IN SECTION 27, TOWNSHIP 37 SOUTH, RANGE
35 EAST.
SECTION III: Ordiance Number 616 is hereby amended to be
consistent with the corrected legal description. All other
portions of Ordinance Number 616 not inconsistent with this
correction shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION IV: This Ordinance shall take effect immediately on its
adoption.

To the Members of the City Council
Of The City of Okeechobee
My husband and I will be unable to attend the meeting on
October 3, 1989 as we will both be out of town. I feel this is a very
important meeting because it will affect so many people in the
Okeechobee Estates area and even the surrounding area. I am asking
the Council to really think about the whole area, not just a few
developers. We have had several projects in the past few years that
really haven't been what was proposed (King's Bay, American
Adventure, Hensen Homes). I feel this can only raise taxes and leave
the town as a whole with more incomplete projects.
The property in question is already re- zoned. I feel the
developers of this project will have to be more cautious if they have
to go through two boards instead of one. Why should other
homeowners have to pay higher taxes when their property goes from
city to county. There will be a big enough burden and inconvenience
just with the traffic flow. I am still of the opinion that there will
be very few people willing to move to Okeechobee to buy a home
worth $100,000 and up. They would have to work out of the area and
drive a great distance.
My property is in the enclave area on the map even though we
are considered to be able to get out, this is a private road in front of
my house and Mr. Evans' house, and I believe the entrance to the
Brown property adjoining my property is also private. I guess, in
short, I am against the annexation.
There is another project scheduled for the Hog property for
low income housing. 1 guess I can't win - $20,000 housing on one
side and $100,000 and up in the rear of my property. Where will it
stop?
I wish I could have been at this meeting as it is a very
important decision for the whole community. Thank you for taking
the time to read this letter and I hope you will consider this matter
very carefully.
