[~,~'~-~ Inspector ~omas discussed a request for a building oermit from Tom
Fey to erect an oper~ shed spproximately 18x50 on East side of building on Lot 7, Block
].55. Due to ~,...~.~s b~fng in conflict with ~)~'o,~:~-- request was denied.
Also Buildi~g Inspector ~omas discussed a matter of demolishing a wood frame
~,~.~ in R2 zone ~nd re~lacing with a CBS struct~e, but due to new building being
larger it would be n~cessary to come nearer to property line than Ordinance Specifies.

~ e Co~cll scussed mmending Ordinance. Matter referred to Attorney Hend~ to check
the set back requirements used by other cft~es.
Clarence ac. ter and representstive from F~.~rgeson Pl~bfng Company ddscussed
,~..,~th the Council, contractors doing business without ~, occupational license, stating
the City was ]osing s consf, derable ~o~t of revenue by not enforcing 0r~nance. After
a lenghty discussion Co~c~.lman Yeilding moved that Co, clean Parkerson and Chief

~omas be autLorized to check Fort Pierce's method of handling matter and get/of their
Ordinance, seconded b~ Councilman Watford and carried.
Lamonte No~re requested that the alley in Block 126 be opened, due to three
new business buildings being recently constructed in said block and access to alley
was needed for loading and ~loading supply trucks. I'.~atter referred to Supt. Williams.
Dr. J~es ~ Horton requested that he be grated a Variance on Lots 5 and 6,
Dlock 126, to erect a medical clinic. Councilman Watford ~oved to grant a Variance
on I, ots 5 ~d 6, Blnck ~6 seconded by Councilm~ Yeilding and '~animously carried.
Also Dr. H~rton discussed the drainage situation at his residence in Block
248. ~atter ~,aken into consideration and to be investigated.
George Reynolds discussed the City re-mapping the city map changing the street
names to n~erial streets and avenues and dividing the city into fo~ districts, ~, }~,

A. A. Scott and T. H. Nix discussed ~ water line extension to Bet-Her Acres
Subd!visi or. Supt. Kinsaul reported that it would require approximately 1050 feet of
4 '~r~ch pipe t~', connect to ~rcsent water main and extend E. to Palm Avenue. ~,Iatter
referred to Supt. Ki'~saul to get cost of such extension.
~. ~. Nix ~l!scussed the Trailway Bus Company using the oresent, building now
being used by Greyhound Bus Co. for a bus stcp and requested the City to endorse the
fact that the present bus station has adequate facilities to meet the needs of two
bus companies. No action taken, matter referred to Attorney Hendry for investigation.
5~arguerite B. Lynn appeared before the Council and requested the Council to
open Hiawassee Street south at 5th Street to give her access to property in Central
Park. which she intends to develop and improve. After discussion the Co~cil referred
matter to Street Conm~ittee and Supt. Williams for further investigation.
Roger Jor'~es appeared requesting to be br~efed on meeting with Allen I~arkh~
and State B~rd of Heslth regarding sewer situation. Co~cilman Yef~ing reported on
meeting.
Also 5~r. Jones requested the Co~cil to consider changing the requirement of
~he 15 feet set back on side of buildings in ~-5 zone. Council advised that matter
was already ~der consideration.

Supt. Kinsaul reported a requested water line extension to Block 19 North-
west Addition, requiring approxi, mate].y 1400 feet of pipe. Due to distance and n~mbar
of users the Council denied request.

Councilman Watford moved to purchase a ZZ" Royal ~e~iter at $$Z~.50 for
Clerk's office, seconded by Councilman Par~son and ca~led.
Councilman Watford moved to employ a night firem~ for two weeks at $60.00
per week to relieve ~ief Godwin for two weeks vacation~ seconded by Councilman
Yeilding and ~rried. Alan Thomas employee of Street Department to work daytime shift.
Attorney Hendry read a letter of reply from Florida Industrial Co~ission
regarding safety device at water ta~.

~omas to use his/car at night as agreed in minutes ~ay 2, 1961.
Bids were received on jail repair from Brannon Williams in the amount of
$256.00 and O. & S. Builders in the amo~t of $261.00. Action on matter deferred until
Tuesday J~e l$.

Supt. Willfa~s instructed to take care of matter.

Department. After discuss.ion Councilman Yeidling moved to advertize for bids on
dump truck, seconded by Councilman Parkerson and unanimously carried.
