M. with the following present: Mayor i',~ack, President Gardner, Councilmen Hunt, Parkerson, Wat£ord and Yeilding with Attorney hendry and Clerk Sptvey. i~inutes of the meeting held April 4, 1961, were read and approved as read. After ~iiscussion Chief Godwin requested to get detailed information. Councilman Yeilding reported a request to open Cherokee Street to Eleventh S,..reet to give access to BIR. 88. Matter referred to Supt. Williams for investigation. A request w~s presented to grant permission to change the location of First ~aotist~ . Church directfonal signs. Permission granted. A request w~s reported from ;.~rs. I~c Duffle to park trailer on lots north of CONTINUED ON PAGE 730 of Independent Baptish Church. After discussion the Council denied request due to it being ix conflict with Ordinance. $ r A reGuest for re~'~afr of entanc® to T. T. T. property owned by C. r~usgrove was dfsc~ssed. ~Iatter referred to Street Committee and Supt. Williams. ?ne Council authorized the printing of 500 building per~ts, padded 100 to book. Councilman Hunt ~iscusse~ occupational license. The Council agreed all persons ~oing business should have a license. Councilman Hunt reported 18,000,000 gallons of water ~ump®d in April 196l - IZ,O00,O00 gallons in April 1980. Councilman Hunt discussed the safety ladder devic~ at water tank. Attorney Hendry reported that h~ had written a 1.tter to th~ Flortda Industrial CommissiOn r®- garding matter. ~.~ayor ~.~!ack discussed the request mad~ for church signs on Parrott Av®nue, hous® to house mail deldver~.~ and civil d~fens~ activities. Councilman Park®rson discussed the jail ventilation situation. A bid pric~ was ~eceived from ~ranuon Williams for the installation of two windows but was returned to h~m for clarlf~.cat~on. ~atter deferred to next meeting with th~ Council requesting ~odwin to secur~ two bids for th~ work. Co~mcilman Perk®rson r®port®d a request f~om ~argu~rit~ Lynn to open Hiawasse® Street at 8~venth Str~t ~nd run South approximately ~ blocks. Natter referr®d to ~trset Committe~ and ~upt. Williams for investigation. Councilman Park~rson discussed Chief Thomas using personal car at night end®avorinE to appr®h®nd speed,rs and drag racers. After discussion and consid~ration Councilman to ?arkerson moved to authorfz~ Chief ~aomas/use personal car at intervals desired for a perio~ of one month to work on abov~ situation, seconded by Councilman Hunt and unanimously carri®d~ Council~an Wat?ord discussed a matter r~ferred to him at April ~th meeting r~- City gard~ng the purchas® ~f a washing machin~ for/Hall us~, submitting a pric~ of $~00.00 for n~w machin~ and brief r®port on Police ~epartment. After discussion Councilman Yeilding moved to 'purchase new washing machinm for City Hall, seconded by Councilman Parkerson and carried.
