March 7, 1961 The City Council of the City of 0keechobee, Florida, met in regular session ~t the City Hall on the above date at 7:Z0 P. M. with the following present: Mayor ~/ack, President Gardner, Councilmen Hunt, Parkerson, Watford and Yeilding with Attorney ~endry and Clerk Spivey. Lot ?, Sec. ~2-37S-35E. President Gar~:~ner asked if their were anN' objections. Jimmie Belk and Brannon Williams stated their objections.. ,qfter discussion Councilman Yeilding moved to grant request and permit trailer park in R-3 zone to be located on above location. ~otion died for lack of a second. B. ',i. Thomas appeared b~fore the Council requesting permission to have tra. ilez, par$~e,J, at meat packing plant, due to occupant living in trailer worked at the plant at night and acted as night watchman. ~ayor ~';lack stated that the owner had been summons to court and case had been continued until ~arch lC. After discussion Council- man Hur~t moved to re-study ~ailer Ordinance seconded by Councilman Watford and carried. P~r~suant to notice published in Okeechobee News the matter of rezoning Lots II and l~o~, Block 126 or~g!ual Town of Okaecl~obee from Residential (R-2) to ~omu~er¢:ia~ was d~.scussed. President Gardner asked for objections. No objections were heard. Upon motion by Councilman Yeilding, seconded by Councilman Watford and animously carried, f~t was moved to re-zone the above described property from Residential (R-2) to Co~.ercial and to amend the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance #271 accordingly. Re-~i'~oning applications and advertising fees were received from Goldie H. White requestf~ng that I~ots 7, 8, 9, lC, ll and 12, Block 168, Original Town of Okee- chobee be rez~:~ned from Residential (R-3) to Commercial; C. E. Drawdy requested that Lots I and 2, Block 174, Original Town of Okeechobee be re-zoned from Residential (R-3) to Comw~erctal and a petition signed by all property owners in Wilcox Shores, Okeechobee Estates a~d First Addition to Okeechobee Estates requesting that all property in the s'~bdivfsions be re-zoned from Agricult.~ral to Residential (R-2). ~he Council auth- publish orized the Clerk to/Notice of intention to amend City Zoning Ordinance # 2V1. Attorney 'Hendry advised the Co~cil that G. W. Clay had settled judgment in Ord~nance ~6 regarding cleaning of vacant lots discussed ~d upon motion by Councilman P~kerson, seconded by Councilman Yeilding and ~animously carried, it w~s moved to .:~mend said Ordinance. Stewart as relief Policeman, subject to his ~ccey~t~nce, ('or ~ days each week ~' $~.00 per day and ~lO.00 per month clothing ~]low~nce, :~econded by Councilman Yeildi~ and unanimously carried. to :;~c~lm~n Hunt r~o~,ed/have city ka~l sprayed rot pest control, ~econded by U'~.~r~ciT~ar~ "~']ding ~nd carried. ~_uncllman e!ld~.ng presented the following Resolution and moved its adoption az~d ~pon b~in~- seconded by Co~cilman ~A~atford was put to a vote and unanimously carried: 722 R E S 0 L U T I O N WHEREAS, the City of 0keechobee, Florida has experienced a tremendous growth in population (and industrial expansion), and ~_EREAS, 2he Greyhound Corporation, Southern Gr~'aound L~nes Division, has been rendering motor bus transportation to the residents of Florida aod its thousands of winter visitors and totu~i.qts over variou~ routes in the State of Florida, and ,~E~AS, it has come to the attention of the City Council of 0keec!~obee, Florida that the Greyho~und Corporation, Southern Grey- hotrod Lines Division, has filed an application with the Floridm Railroad and Public Utilities Commission and intends to file an applicatio~ with e~e Interstate Commerce Commission for authority to transport passengers, baggage of passengers, new~papers and light express between St. Petersburg, Florida and Jct. of U. S. Highway ~ and Florida Highway No. ~0 as follows: From St. Peters- burg, Florida over U. S. Highway l~ to Bradenton, Florida, thence ove~ Uo S. Highway 41 to Junction Florida Highway 72 (~ miles south of Sarasota, Florida); thence over Florida Highway 72 to~ Junction F!~rida Highway ~0 (1 mile west of Arcadia); thence over Florida Highway 70 to junction of U.
