AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA; AMENDING
SECTION 2 -48 PERTAINING TO THE DEPARTMENT
OF FINANCE; PROVIDING FOR ADDITIONAL
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF
FINANCE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION ONE: That Section 2 -48 of the City of Okeechobee,
Florida, Code of Ordinances is hereby amended to read as
follows:
Section 2 -48
(a) There is hereby created and established a
Department of Finance. The head of this department shall be
the Finance Director. This department shall be responsible
for the collection of all fee, licenses and monies due the
City and shall be responsible for the establishment and
maintenance of the general accounting system set up in
accordance with the requirements of the State of Florida
Department of Accounting Principles. The director of this
department shall supervise the employees assigned to this
department and shall be responsible for the proper
maintenance of the buildings and equipment used in the
department and shall perform such other duties as may be
prescribed by the City Council.
(b) The Department of Finance shall maintain a
checkbook for each checking account of the City. containing
a stub for each check therein. and such stub shall bear a
correct record of the check issued.
(c) The City Council shall by Resolution prescribe the
form of books of account and form of reports to be made by
the Department of Finance.
(d) The Department of Finance shall make such reports
and furnish data as the Council may require.
SECTION TWO: That this Ordinance shall take effect
immediately upon its adoption.
