AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE;
AMENDING CHAPTER 18, ARTICLE II, SECTION 18-18 TO PROVIDE AN EXCEPTION
FOR MASTER METERS; AMENDING CHAPTER 18, ARTICLE II TO ADD SECTION
18-36 TO PROVIDE RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE USE, OF MASTER METERS;
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA as follows:
SECTION I: Chapter 18, Article II, Section 18-18 is hereby amended to read as follows:
CHAPTER 18
WATER, SEWERS AND SEWAGE DISPOSAL
ARTICLE II WATER
Section 18-18. Separate connection required for each unit; separate meters required;
exceptions for master meters.
Charges shall be on a unit basis for multiple offices or multiple dwellings in a single
building. Each lot or building site shall be considered a separate unit for the payment
of the water charges herein established, and separate connections will be required for
each of such units, except where a development is authorized use of a master _meter in
accordance with the rules and regulations as set forth in Section 18-36 herein. Every
connection shall be separately metered. Where a connection is made to a single unit
building which contains multiple offices and/or multiple dwellings the charges shall be
imposed, billed and collected on a-pew-unit-basis-as-i€-eaei~-a€€iee-e~-bniieiing each
and every multiple office and/or multiple dwelling as if each had its own separate meter.
Each and every multiple office and/or multiple dwelling will pay its proportionate share
of all charges over the minimum.
SECTION II: Chapter 18, Article II is hereby amended to add a new Section 18-36 providing
rules and regulations for use of master meters and said Sections shall read as follows:

Section 18-36. Master meters, use restricted.
Master meters may be used to serve governmental agencies such as housing authorities
or industrial authorities when authorized by the City Council. Master meters may also
be used to serve individual buildings which contain multiple offices or dwellings such
as office buildingsor apartments and also may serve mobile home developments when the
entire _development is owned by a single property owner and all of the lots therein are
designed for rental use. Should the owners of said mobile home developments decide
at a future date to dispose of the development by the sale of lots, individual meters
for each lot would then be required and the master meter removed. Minimum charges--For
master meters shall be in accordance with existing rates based on meter size. No resale
o water is permitted.
SECTION III: This ordinance shall take effect as provided by law.
