AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE,
FLORIDA; AMENDING CHAPTER 18, ARTICLE II, SO AS TO CREATE SECTION
18-26(a), PROVIDING FOR FIRE HYDRANTS WITHIN AND WITHOUT THE FIRE
• DISTRICT; PROVIDING FOR MAINTENANCE; PROVIDING CHARGES OUTSIDE THE
CITY FIRE DISTRICT; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, as follows:
Section 1: Chapter 18, Article II is hereby amended to create Section 18-26(a),
which said Section shall read as follows:

WATER, SEWERS & SEWAGE DISPOSAL
ARTICLE II. WATER
Section 18-26(a). Provision of fire hydrant within and without the fire district;
providing maintenance; providing fees and charges outside the city fire district.
In accordance with Chapter 7, Article 1, Section 7-2, the water and sewer
division of the Department of Public Works shall, as a part of it's service
to the community, furnish fire hydrants within the city fire district as
necessary, required and approved by Che City Council. Nothing, contained
herein, shall require the city water and sewer division of the Department of
Public Works to install any fire hydrants outside of the city fire district,
but if hydrants are requested the cost, therefor, for material and installa-
tion shall be borne by the appropriate developer or local governmental juris-
diction responsible therefor. Such fire hydrants, installed outside the
city fire district, shall be maintained by the water and sewer division of
the Department of Public Works and a charge of one hundred twenty dollars
($120) per year, per hydrant, shall be levied as a reasonable charge for
continued maintenance and pressure checks of said hydrants.
Section 2: This ordinance shall take effect as provided by law.
