AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF
THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA; AMENDING CHAPTER
2 PERTAINING CONSOLIDATED BILLING FOR CITY SERVICES;
AMENDING SECTION 2-65 WHICH PROVIDES FOR DISCONTIN-
UANCE OF CITY SERVICES FOR NON-PAYMENT OF BILL;
AMENDING SECTION 2-66 WHICH PROVIDES FOR A CHARGE
FOR RECONNECTION OF WATER SERVICE AFTER DISCONNECTION
FOR DELINQUENCY; PROVIDING FOR SERVICE CHARGE FOR
BAD CHECKS RECEIVED FOR PAYMENT OF CITY SERVICES;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA as follows:
Section 1. Section 2-65 of-the Code of Ordinances of the City
of Okeechobee, Florida is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Section 2-65. Discontinuing services for delinquency,
for customer closing account or at customer request.
(a) If any portion of a consolidated bill for city
services is delinquent fifteen (15) days or
more, all or any of the services provided
by such billing may be discontinued until
all fees and penalties are paid in full.
There shall be added to each such account a
water disconnection or turn-o charge o
ten ($10.00) dollars for accounts inside
the city limits and twelve and 50/100 ($12.50)
dollarE for accounts outside the city limits
(b) There shall be a service charge for water turn-
off when such turn-off is done at the request
of the customer or when the customer closes
the account. Such service charge shall be ten
($10.00 dollars for accounts inside the city
limits and twelve and .50T1-00 ($12.50) dollars
for accounts outside the city limits."
Section 2. Section 2-66 of the Code of Ordinances of the City
of Okeechobee, Florida is hereby amended to read
as follows:

There shall be a service charge as follows for
water turn-on for new customers, for reconnecting
water ;service after such service has been discon-
tinued at the customer's request, and for recon-
• nectincl water service after such service has been
discontinued for delinquency in payment of a bill
for city services or for failure to ay an increased
deposit as required. This service charge s all be
in addition to other charges and pena ties established
by the city for city services.

Section 3. Chapter Two of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Okeechobee, Florida is hereby amended by adding a
new Section 2-67 which shall read as follows:
Section 2-67. Charge for worthless checks received
in payment or city services.
(a) In the event any check received in payment for
city services, or for a required eposit or
any city service, shall be returned by the
bank or depository upon which it was drawn for
reason of insufficient funds or closed account,
a service charge shall be imposed for the hand-
ling of each such check. Said service charge
shall be in the amount of Ten ($10.00) dollars
or five (5%) percent of the amount of the check,
whichever is greater.
(b) In the event Florida Statutes Section 832.07 shall
be amended to provide for a service charge for
worthless checks greater than the service charge
established hereby, the service charge in a
above shall be increased to the amount oft-he
service charge provided in said Section 832.07,
as amended, without requirement of amendment
to t is Section 2-67."
Section 4. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its
adoption.
