AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF PETITIONS FOR VOLUNTARY
ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN PARCELS OF LAND IN THE UNINCORPORATED AREA
OF OKEECHOBEE COUNTY, FLORIDA, CONTIGUOUS TO THE PRESENT BOUNDARIES
OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE; PROVIDING FOR REDEFINING OF THE MUNICIPAL
BOUNDARIES TO INCLUDE SAID PARCELS; PROVIDING FOR ADVERTISING AND
PUBLIC HEARINGS; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the owner of real property in an unincorporated area of Okeechobee
County has petitioned the City Council for annexation of said property; and
WHEREAS, said property is contiguous to the boundary lines of the City of
Okeechobee and reasonably compact; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Okeechobee wishes to accede to the
request of the owner of said real property for becoming a part of the municipality
of Okeechobee; and
WHEREAS, Florida Statutes Chapter 171.044 provides the means for voluntary
annexation of real property contiguous to a municipality and reasonably compact,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE,
FLORIDA, as follows:
SECTION 1: In accordance with Chapter 171.044 Florida Statutes the City Council
has ascertained a petition for annexation of real property adjacent to the Okeechobee
City municipal boundaries bears the signatures of all owners of the property in the
area proposed to be annexed, and upon adoption of this ordinance said boundary lines,
of the municipality shall be redefined to include said property described as follows:
Lots 1 through 6, inclusive, and Lots 8 through 10, inclusive of
Block 76; Lots 17 through 26, inclusive of Block 69, CONNERS
HIGHLANDS, according to the plat thereof recorded in Plat Book 1,
Page 21, public records of Okeechobee County, Florida.
SECTION 2: This ordinance shall take effect as provided by law.

PETITION FOR ANNEXATION
COMES NOW the undersigned, pursuant to Section 171.044,
Florida Statutes, and petitions the City of Okeechobee for
annexation and would show as follows:
1. THAT the undersigned are the owners of the following
described real property which lies in an unincorporated area
of Okeechobee County and contiguous to the City of Okeechobee:
Lots 1 through 6, inclusive and Lots 8 through 10, inclusive of Block
76; Lots 17 through 26, inclusive of Block 69, CONNERS HIGHLANDS, according
to the plat thereof recorded in Plat Book 1, Page 21, public records of
Okeechobee County, Florida.
2. THAT the above described real property is reasonably
compact and annexation will not result in the creation of any
enclave.
3. THAT the undersigned petition the City Counsel of the
City of Okeechobee to adopt a non-emergency ordinance to annex
said property and redefine the boundary lines of the City of
Okeechobee to include the above described property. It is
further petitioned that said ordinance be advertised and
passed as provided in Section 171.944(2), Florida Statutes.
