AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE,
FLORIDA; AMENDING CHAPTER 18, ARTICLE II, SECTION 18-35 RELATING TO
SYSTEM CAPACITY CHARGES FOR CONNECTION TO THE CITY'S WATER SYSTEM;
PROVIDING FOR THE PHASING IN OF SAID SYSTEM CAPACITY CHARGES OVER A
THREE YEAR PERIOD; AMENDING CHAPTER 18, ARTICLE III, SECTION 18-48
• RELATING TO SYSTEM CAPACITY CHARGES FOR SEWER CUSTOMERS; PROVIDING
FOR THE PHASING IN OF SAID SYSTEM CAPACITY CHARGES FOR SEWER CUSTOMERS
OVER A THREE YEAR PERIOD; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA,
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: Chapter 18, Article II, Section 18-35 of the City Code of Ordinances
is hereby amended to read as follows:

ARTICLE II WATER
Section 18-35 System Capacity Charge
A system capacity charge shall be paid by all new customers on the City of
Okeechobee water system in the following amounts for 1983 and thereafter:
a) 5/8" x 3/4" Water Meter $250.00
b) 1" Water Meter $625.00
c) 1 112" Water Meter $1,250.00
d) 2" Water Meter $2,000.00
e) 3" Water Meter $4,000.00
For service outside the city limits add 25%
System capacity charges on water meters larger than three (3) inches shall be set by the
City Engineer and Director of the Department of Public Works and shall be based on the
amount necessary to expand and enlarge the city's water treatment and distribution system
to replace the capacity being taken by the new customer.
SECTION II: Chapter 18, Article III, Section 18-48 of the City Code of Ordinances
is hereby amended to read as follows:

Section 18-48 System Capacity Charge
A system capacity charge shall be paid by all new customers on the City of
Okeechobee sanitary sewer system in the following amounts for 1983 and thereafter:
a) Residential customers with
5/8" x 3/4" Water Meter $400.00
b) Residential customers with
1" Water Meter $1,000.00
• c) Commercial sewer customers:
Minimum system capacity charge $300.00
For sewer discharge flows exceeding
200 gallons per day $1.50 per gal.
For service outside the city limits add 250/-
0 SECTION III: This ordinance shall take effect retroactive to October 26, 1982.
Introduced on first reading and set for public hearing this 22nd day of February
1983.
