1956-12-18 489 A delegation from the Chamber of Commerce was present discussing with the City Council, Robert L. Wagner, representative from Leedy, Wheeler and Alleman and Rolland A. Sharp, representative from Sharp and Associates the water and sewer pro- gram and financing of same. Mr. Wagner discussed the progress that had been made on the financing of said project and agreed to contact the State Road Department explaining to them the plans of the city and requesting an extension of time on the 441 reconstruction project. Mr. Sharp requested that the Council appoint a representative to sign application for Federal Grant. Councilman Harden moved to authorize G. C. Durrance, City Attorney to sign application for Federal Grant and also authorize said person to act as City Agent in any matter that may come up concerning the Federal Grant. Motion seconded by Councilman Gardner and carried. Rev. Dickson, Pastor of First Baptist Church appeared before the Council requesting that the alley behind Baptist Church be closed so that a covered walk way could be constructed from the parking area to church. Councilman Gardner moved that the City Attorney prepare necessary Resolution seconded by Councilman Rhymes and carried. Councilman Gardner moved to pay six volunteer firemen $1.00 per month for their services, seconded by Councilman Harden and carried. Due to the City needing additional room space the Council instructed the Clerk to notify the Game & Fresh Water Commission that the offices they now occupy be vacated as of January l, 1957. The water bill on Peter's 5cent to $1.00 store was brought to the attention of the Council and the Clerk was instructed to notify owner that unless bill was paid service have to be discontinued. Due to the next regular meeting of the City Council being on January 1, 1957, New Year's Day, Councilman Rhymes moved that the Council meet on Monday, January 7, 1957 at 7:30 P. M. seconded by Councilman Gardner and carried. The franchise check in the amount of $4,828,53 from the Florida Power and Light Company was received by the City for 1956. Upon motion the Council adjourned to meet December 18, 1956 at 7:00 PM. PRESIDENT PR0-tem CITY COUNCIL December 18, 1956 The Council meeting scheduled for December 18, 1956, was postponed.
